Form VI Yearbook

BROUGHT TO BOOK ...

A dedicated team of Form VI editors are putting the finishing touches to their yearbook.  The mighty task begins at the end of Form V, when pupils apply in writing for positions on the committee.  Despite this, the work-load comes as a shock, as the book takes almost a whole year to produce.

With people to chase, pages to fill and layout to complete, the team has found themselves having to learn many new skills and hone old ones.  An A-Z write up is completed by the friends of every pupil, so that they have both a lasting memory of their Dollar days and an affectionate send off to treasure for ever – and maybe a few permanent reminders of hi-jinks they’d rather forget!  Each team, club and committee involving Form VI also gets a final word, and pictures of days long gone and nights more recent are collected and collated, making this a book to be treasured for ever by those who pass for the last time through the bronze doors this summer.

Of course, this glossy tome comes at a price, so the committee also takes on fundraising tasks throughout the year.  October’s Band Night saw the dining hall transformed into a rocking venue, while Kissograms were delivered to blushing recipients of mystery Valentines just before the February break.  Advertising also makes a vital contribution to the coffers, meaning that this full colour book might mean the earth, but doesn’t cost it.

As the deadline approaches, the committee are having to work extra hard to get what they need from their peers so that the final edits can be done.  The book will be unveiled in a night of memories in the marquee at the end of the year, when all will doubtless agree that the hard work has been worth it.
