Eco Committee News
The Form VI Eco Committee is now up and running throughout the school. We have placed recycling bags in every classroom for cans, plastic and paper. There are blue boxes in some classrooms which paper can also be put in for recycling. There are also bags available for cardboard too.
The overall aim is to reduce the amount of waste the school pays to send to landfill. Instead, we are trying to reduce the amount of waste produced and recycle that which is generated. Feedback so far has been very positive in terms of the amount of waste recycled.

Common sense is a key element in what to do with waste. Drinks cans need to be crushed and completely empty before they are put in the bags. Plastic bottles should be empty and plastic food packaging clean. Cardboard boxes should be flattened.
Two representatives from each registration class should be responsible for the emptying of the recycling bags and boxes during extended registration. The recycling point is behind the old gym and assembly hall. This is manned by members of the Eco Committee on Tues and Thursday mornings - as the pictures show, even in the snow.
The effort already put in by pupils and staff to recycle is greatly appreciated. We are keen to further the recycling and all green endeavours in and around the school, and remind everybody that even little deeds can make a big difference!
