Gymnastics and Dance Display
The annual Gymnastics and Dance Display was held on Thursday, February 28 in the Maguire Gym, from 9:45-11:15. Produced by Mrs Verity Smith (Teacher of PE) and Mrs Sam Kennedy (Teacher of Art), the morning was a glittering, graceful and very athletic display of gymnastic endeavour, ranging from those whose enthusiasm is in its early stages to those who have been training for many years.
This year, sixty-one very talented and enthusiastic performers were involved, from Junior I up through Form VI. Mrs Smith was especially delighted to find that ‘more and more boys are getting involved every year which is fantastic.’
The programme was varied and involved group sports-acrobatics routines, solo fast dances, group apparatus routines, floor work, paired modern dances and much, much more.
Unfortunately, Rosa Loedel (FIII) was unable to perform due to her commitments with Gymtasia Evolution, a performance group which is currently in the semi-finals of the “Got to Dance” competition on Sky TV. ‘We would like to wish her the very best of luck with the competition on the 10th March,’ said Mrs Smith.
