Piping (Pipe Band)
Full details of all aspects of Pipe Band are available from Mr Stewart.
Piping is taught in five tiers: from beginners on the chanter, to solo pipers; pupils are advised which sessions are most appropriate for them. The aim is to prepare pipers to compete at all levels, including participation in National Competitions. The Pipe Band has also toured internationally.

The Scottish Schools Quartets and Trio Competition attracted entries of 29 groups from 12 Scottish Schools and was hosted by Strathallan School on Friday the 13th of November 2009. Dollar went one better than their most successful season of 2006 by finishing 1st and 2nd in both the Quartets and Trio Competitions.

Second in the same category, winning the Headmasters Shield were, Calum McMillan, Robert Reid and Ross Geddes led by David Barcroft

Second in the same category, winning the Headmasters Shield were Sarah McCann and Robert Reid led by Cameron MacKenzie

A Pipe Band Competition is being held on Sunday the 14th of June at Strathallan School. Dollar is hoping to enter two bands along with the usual Individaul entries. Solo Competitions start at Midday with the Bands scheduled for a three o’clock kick off. Everyone welcome.

Results of some considerable note were achieved at the Stirling Provincial MOD (mod ionadail shruighlea) last Friday. Dollar were placed in every category entered, competing against Pipers from across Central Scotland.
In the Under 10 Chanter, The Donald Sinclair Memorial Shield was won by Freddie McFadyean (above), Fergus Fitzpatrick second and Ross McCran third
In the SGIATH MOD IONADAIL SHRUIGHLEA, 10 and under 12 Chanter Competion Rory Cooke finished second and Robert Watson third
Lucy Ferguson won the Jim Buchanan Shield in the Under 12 Piping category, with Gregor Stewart second and Tommy Henson third.
The McNicol Memorial Quaich was won by Sarah McCann. (12 and under 14 March – Piping)
The McBeth Memorial Quaich was won by Fraser Stewart (Under 18 March Strathspey and Reel – Piping) |
