A Day in the Life of McNabb and Tait

The boys are awoken at about 7.15am and have breakfast in the dining hall before school begins at 8.45am.  Thereafter they follow their timetables until school ends at 3.25pm.  From then the boys can participate in a wide range of co-curricular activities until tea is served in the dining hall at 5pm. The dining hall provides three daily meals for boarders with a great range of different foods to cater for all sorts of dietary requirements.

After tea the boys return to the House and relax, watch tv or catch up with friends until prep begins at 6pm.  Prep times vary depending on year groups, from 1 hour per evening for our junior boys to 2 hours for our seniors.  There is no prep on Friday or Saturday.  Prep is supervised for our Juniors and our Seniors are expected to work more independently their study bedrooms.
After prep the boys can relax in a variety of ways: watch tv, play pool or table tennis, emailing/calling/skyping   family and friends, using the fitness suite, playing 5 a side football, swimming or chatting with each other and the staff.
Again bedtimes are staggered according to age groups with the youngest boys going to bed at 8.30pm and the eldest 10.30pm during the week.

On a Saturday the boys have breakfast in the House and are often participating in rugby or cricket.  If not then Saturday is a day for relaxing and enjoying a well earned rest after a busy week.  The weekend is when we usually organise an outing or a trip.  For details of this half term please follow the link on the right to 'What's on in McNabb and Tait'.

Our trips are very varied and are based on requests made by the boys.  They often include the following  go –karting, cinema, theatre, rugby, skiing, bowling, laser quest and paintballing.  In addition we have a takeaway and movie night once a month, senior get- togethers throughout the year and the Boarders’ Book Group has proved to be a popular item in the Boarding Calendar.
