WELCOME TO MCNABB and TAIT

McNabb & Tait House, running the whole length of Academy Place, is where you will find  all the boys within the Dollar boarding community. There is a truly international feel to the house with boys from North America, Africa, Japan, Russia and Australia mixing with many home-grown boarders. This cosmopolitan dimension is one of the key attractions of McNabb & Tait with its success built on interdependence, understanding, mutual respect and a keen awareness of the strengths of those around you.

 

There is room for over 45 boys in McNabb & Tait and rooms are comfortable, modern and colourful. Younger boys share, usually two to a room, while the older boys have single rooms, some with en-suite facilities and all recently refurbished in the last few years. There are four generous sized common rooms, all with Digital TV, and DVD access. Two computer suites have high speed internet access and Skype facility for staying in touch with relatives abroad.

 

The ethos of the house is very much based on creating a warm, family atmosphere while recognising every boy’s individuality. All boys are encouraged to pursue their own co-curricular interests and McNabb & Tait has representation in all areas of school sport, music and drama. The Houseparents, Mr & Mrs McFadyean, both teach in the Academy and our four House Tutors are drawn from the PE and History & Modern Studies departments. The house pets, Ozzy the black Labrador and George the cat, are the final ingredients, and their presence throughout the house creates a real sense of a very large and happy family home.
