ENTERPRISING DOLLAR

Young Enterprise Falkirk

Dollar Academy Young Enterprise team ‘Aventi’ were trading in Falkirk on Saturday 29 of October, as they set up stall to flog their environmentally friendly ‘Eco-Bursts’ bracelets and key rings made out of recycled starburst wrappers, newspapers and magazines.

The team of Form V pupils devised a business model around their unique accessories and had arranged to pitch their business outside the Howgate Centre.  Despite the brisk weather, their sales were strong with shoppers being drawn to the ‘green’ themed eco-stall.  The public also enjoyed musical accompaniment provided on the pipes by Dollar pupil Calum McMillan.

Commenting on the efforts of Aventi, Mr James Simpson, Business Education Teacher at Dollar Academy said: ”There was a lot of hard work from the pupils in preparing for their day of sales in Falkirk.  The support from Falkirk shoppers was incredible and the pupil team are satisfied with their day of selling.  The Young Enterprise project is a great way for our pupils to experience the realities of business.”

Young Enterprise is a national education charity which assists school in providing pupils with the opportunity to set-up and run their own small scale business.  Young Enterprise Companies run in schools throughout the Forth Valley area, including Dollar Academy which has one of the largest business Education department in the UK.
