Primary Number Crunching at Dollar

Dollar Academy primary pupils were presented with a series of challenges at a problem solving event, organised by their Primary Maths Co-ordinator and the Head of Maths in the Senior school, on 23th November.
Supported by senior pupils from the Advances Higher maths class, the children tried their hand at a variety of practical maths problems, including a number treasure hunt, sudoko, sequences and patterns, bouncing ‘frogs and toads’ and the famous Tower of Hanoi.
Commenting on the event, Mrs Alison Morrison, Head of Dollar Academy Prep and Junior schools, said: “ It is great to see our young pupils having so much fun solving puzzles and experiencing the practical application of maths.”
Dollar Academy’s Prep, Junior and Senior schools are all located on a single campus. The specialist senior teachers regularly support primary teaching, and help inspire the younger pupils across a broad range of subjects.
