Diary Extracts of the Sponsored Walk – Prep 5H
When we all set off for the loop, the Seniors followed us and went a different route. We saw a dead vole, mouse and shrew but there were good bits as well. The countryside looked beautiful, especially the house with loads of flowers and a really, really, really big garden, a nearly never ending garden. It was really tiring at first but, after a bit, everyone got the hang of it. It was really good fun. We talked, talked and talked, laughed, laughed and laughed, played, played and played, unlike any ordinary school day.

It finally stopped raining and the sun came out and splashed us with smiles and happiness.

When we were finished, we knew we had raised over £50000 so I thought it was worthwhile doing it.
Kara Doyle
When we started the hill loop, I was Mrs Hamilton’s partner and, together, we were pace makers 1 and 2 but I started to slow down so it was goodbye pace maker number 2! Once we got back, we went into groups of four or more. I went with Rebecca M, Poppy and Katie but I kept holding them back. I felt guilty so we worked out a solution. In other words we used our gumption. We decided to walk to a sticker stop and run or jog to a safety station I felt really good by not giving up because the only way to climb up a mountain is one step at a time.
Rachel Pollock
At the end of the day, the Seniors came back very muddy, the Juniors came back tired and we finished up with tired legs and hearts but we raised £50,390 for the charities.
Samantha Robertson
When I finished it, I was so exhausted. I thought my heart was going to explode. It was still fun like all the other times. I had to finish my big Fruit Shoot to get my energy back.
Kyle Russell
For the first bit, it was quite steep and gravelly but then it flattened out. There was a dark bit which was muddy but I stepped on the bits which weren’t. All the animals were running away from us because they had never seen so many people! I came in and my legs collapsed. I lay down happily on the ground. All six charities will be so happy because we raised £50, 390. It was a great day and I will remember it for a long time.
Cameron Keys
Since we were in Prep 5, we could go first on the hill loop. There were lots of cow pats and it was a pity that people stepped in them. There were quite a lot of natural seats, where we could get our pictures taken, and hills which we could run down. When we got back, the teacher took us round the campus. It was very challenging but worthwhile and fun.
Eduin Aitchison
Once we were on our second lap, we got to the sports field and Rachel dropped her card in the burn. Poppy had to rescue it. Once we had finished, we went inside and had a big drink. We all felt tired but proud because we had raised over £50,000.
Katie Scott
Up the hill loop, the tracks were very stony. I liked the bit where there was a kind of bridge because you could see the water flowing past gracefully. It looked really nice.
Emma Macrae
The walk was tiring and agonising but it was all for a good cause and it was brilliant fun.
