The Junk Food Roadshow

The Junk Food Road Show visited Dollar Academy.  This was part of the P.S.E. programme for Form I pupils. Leigh, the presenter gave the pupils an interesting and entertaining talk on the importance of eating healthy foods and reading food labels to make informed choices about the food they eat.  The pupils helped to make a healthy pizza and Leigh discussed each ingredient as it was added to the pizza.  Everyone got the chance to sample the pizzas once they were cooked.  Leigh also made a very unhealthy burger using the ingredients listed on the packet of burgers he had brought with him.  The pupils were astonished by the contents of some of the poorer quality burgers sold on the market and it made them realise how much better it was to make their own or buy good quality burgers from their local butcher.
