Product Design
Intermediate 2: By completing a range of detailed and engaging projects, pupils produce multiple acceptable solutions to design briefs in a range of media. The four units include Product Evaluation and Graphic Techniques, Designing for People, Designing for Manufacture, Product Model.
Higher Level: Develops and extends the depth of understanding that each pupil has of the principles - and complexities - of designing realistic modern products for the world in which they live. This is carried out through further study in the areas noted for Intermediate 2 and the undertaking of intricate and rewarding projects. This course is popular as a 'crash' Higher for pupils interested in one of the many Design courses available in Higher Education.
Advanced Higher Level: To finalise the fundamental principals learnt at Higher Level; Pupils complete a project which enables them to Design and Model a viable, professional product that fully answers the design brief formulated from a given design problem. The course prepares pupils for the complexities of working in a creative vocation, preparing for deadlines and fulfilling the needs of a given market.
