U16 Scottish Schools Rugby Final

The Dollar Academy U16 rugby team played at Murrayfield on Saturday in the final of the Brewer-Dolphin Scottish Schools Cup. Following victories over Merchiston and High School of Glasgow in the quarter and semi-finals respectively, the team faced George Watson’s College in front of a crowd of almost 5000.
Watsons were comfortably ahead at half-time, and many a team would have given up at that point, but the Dollar boys fought courageously in the second half, dominating possession and territory, although they were unable to breach an excellent defence. Watsons ultimately ran out winners by 38-0.

Dollar Academy coach Martin Hose said, “We were delighted to be part of such a big day. Playing at Murrayfield was wonderful. The boys played very well but were beaten by a better team. We are very proud of their performance on the day and throughout the season.”
Captain Alex Crawford added, “This was a fantastic experience for all the boys and the support we received was incredible. We are proud to have played a part in Dollar’s famous rugby history.”
