Ski Tour to Les Menuires 2012
The Dollar Academy biennial Ski Tour returned from Les Menuires in the French Alps where 116 pupils from Junior 2 to Form VI enjoyed a very successful week of skiing and snowboarding.
The recently refurbished Hotel Piolet, which offers door-to-door skiing, proved once again to be an excellent base, and the pupils were guided around the mountains by their ESF instructors and by school staff for up to seven hours each day, all fuelled by an excellent menu from the Piolet. Apres-ski activities each evening, including bum-boarding, bingo and basketball, kept everyone busy until bedtime, and over 40 pupils also squeezed in a visit to the lovely swimming pool and spa complex in the resort.
Ski Tour organiser, Mr David Lumsden of the Chemistry Department, comments "Thanks to the dedicated hard work of the staff, both on and off the slopes, this year's Tour was certainly one to remember. Our pupils were excellent ambassadors for their school and they received very positive comments, both from the ESF Chief Instructor, who was with us all week, and from the staff of the Hotel Piolet".
A full day-to-day account, including further photographs of this year’s Tour can be found in the Ski Tour Diary.
Booking for the Easter 2014 Tour will be open from mid-September 2012 - pupils should listen for the announcement in Assembly and Registration early next session.
